When Chelle and Neet went to the Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo, they decided to buy me a present. Because they're kind, thoughtful and sweet as pie (or cupcakes, in Chelle's case).
I had wanted Lime Crime's Velvetine in Red Velvet for quite some time.
Firstly, it was 100% matte. Like superduper matte. ULTIMATE MATTE. Yum!
Secondly, it was one of the punchiest, most beautiful reds I had ever laid my eyes on. Yes!
Lastly, it was cute to look at. Eee!
The first swatch was mindblowing. I knew it would be high impact and WOW, but faaaaar out - this thing has pigment for days.
Application is a little tricky. Because it's so pigmented and so intense, you have to be careful to make sure you don't end up clownin' it. I go real slow. Another thing is that you don't need a lot of product to get the full effect. In fact, if you put too much on, it'll bleed. Go easy! Tricky application aside, the formula is nice. It's quite a thin and smooth consistency, but there's another aspect to it than I just can't put my finger on. It's not weird or unpleasant, just different.
Once Red Velvet sets, it's done. Finished. Over. It doesn't move unless you get at it with an oil-based makeup remover. I find that it stays on perfectly through food and drink, but if I go to town on a major feast, it does fade a little. Still, it remains pretty full-on.
Here's a grainy pic from the night I got it. Note the
In conclusion, HOLY SHIT. Red Velvet is amazing. It's like nothing else. If you like your lip prodz with a punch, you need a Velveteen in your life.
P.S. If neither of the shades rock your boat (the other is a coral called Suedeberry), Lime Crime are currently creating a pink called Pink Velvet (creative name, guys). Woo!
Thoughts? Do you own either of the Lime Crime Velveteens?
